Faithless lover Heartless thing For you I'll swing And for no other Faithless lover Faithless lover Faithless lover Under your spell I fell Now I discover Faithless lover Faith no more Faithless lover Faithless lover Faithless lover Under your spell I fell Now I discover Faithless lover Faith no more Faithless lover Faith no more

Raindrops are falling on the city's glitter heart Everywhere there are lovers like we once used to be Each turn I take reminds me how we're now apart And I'm lost in a lonesome reverie Over there is where we found that little park On the day you decided to say that you love me I mean to drive on by but as I'm parking up I get into a lonesome reverie I don't want to live this way Clinging on to yesterday And a memory of what once used to be So I turn for home, torn reluctantly From a lonesome reverie I don't want to live this way Clinging on to yesterday And a memory of what once used to be So I turn for home, torn reluctantly From a lonesome reverie I am lost in a lonesome reverie
3.
You inspire me When my eyes begin to glaze You inspire me In so many ways When I'm on the ground You seem to know How to pull the blessings down And spread them all around You inspire me When my well is almost dry You inspire me And in the twinkling of an eye I’m back on my feet You're so inspiring to me The road is long And it winds through the night But when you're near You let there be light You inspire me When my eyes begin to glaze You inspire me In so many ways I am back on my feet You're so inspiring I don't have to wish upon a star That's how inspiring you are
4.
Well, I go around the world And this is what I do I say love's a hurting thing 'Cause I know it to be true When I get up in the spotlight And my story has begun I try to explain What lack of love has done And though I do it nightly It never is the same For it’s a never ending story Of jealousy and blame I know what you're saying That I'm on the run But there is nowhere to run From what lack of love has done I go around the world And this is what I do I climb up on a stage And I tell them about you I try to keep it short I don't want it to get old So you'll sympathize After it’s been told Well, I hear what you're saying That I'm on the run But there is nowhere to run From what lack of love has done No, there is nowhere to run From what lack of love has done What lack of love has done What lack of love has done What lack of love has done
5.
It's time I took a holiday Before I blow my top I've got to kick my shoes off Before I drop I want to go somewhere quiet And not overlooked So me and my baby Can go get cooked Whoa, yeah It's time I took a holiday Before I blow my stack I've got to turn the light down And just relax I want to get some attention In my baby's arms And just be thrilling To her tender charms Whoa, yeah I want to get some attention In my baby's arms That's not to mention All her charms It's time I took a holiday It's time I took a holiday Time I took a holiday Whoa, yeah It's time I took a holiday I'm tired, tired, so tired It's time I took a holiday
6.
I'm a failed Christian I don't go to church I smoke and I drink And I lie and I curse It never got to me Your sermon and all You talked and talked About nothing at all I'm a failed Christian Failed Christian I've got two recollections taking the collection And tears when the choir sang in harmony It scared me half to death I swore as I left With a inside pocket full of change and memories I'm a failed Christian Failed Christian I'm a failed Christian I've got my own church I pray with my soul To this great universe All over the world The blood’s on their hands Religious instruction I can't understand I'm a failed Christian Failed Christian I'm going to meet my maker A firm believer Of spirit in music There's a prayer in a song I'm a failed Christian And if I'm going under Then you're coming with me That much I can tell I'm a failed Christian Failed Christian Failed Christian Failed Christian Failed Christian I’m a failed Christian Failed Christian Failed, failed Christian I’m a failed Christian I'm a failed Christian I don't go to church I smoke and I drink And I lie and I curse
7.
There's a kind of man that you sometimes meet World’s passing him by on winged feet He walks around with his senses numb If you know him That's the kind of man that I’ve become The kids all know him 'cause when they play He comes and shoos them away He's irritated by everyone If you know him That's the kind of man that I’ve become The friends he had are so-called now They all slipped away somehow He's had the blues much more than some If you know him That's the kind of man that I’ve become He won't go to church ‘Cause his faith’s all gone The sweet singing of the choir Will only drive him home As for comfort He hasn't got a crumb If you know him That's the kind of man that I’ve become He won't go to church It's too loud for him now The sweet singing of the choir Nothing but a row His heart’s a prune When it once was a plum If you know him That's the kind of man that I’ve become If you know him That's the kind of man that I’ve become

Freezing 03:58
It's freezing, freezing Windchill is twenty below Whole town is under snow Mercury’s falling, it just won't quit What are you doing out in it? Come inside, love Into the warm It's freezing Inside’s where you should be Don't try to argue with me Out there it's cruel and cold Please do as you’re told Come inside, love Into the warm Come inside, love Into the warm It's freezing, freezing Inside’s where you should be Don't try to disagree Walk in and set me free From this yearning Come inside, love Into the warm It's freezing, freezing, freezing
9.
I'm looking for something I'll think I'll never find I might as well face it I'm the losing kind But deep down inside I believe it is High on a hilltop Way far away High on a hilltop Way far away Each night I pray That it's not too late The disappointment Won't be my fate But I believe deep down One day I'll stand High on a hilltop Way far away High on a hilltop Way far away I'm looking But I won't ever find I might as well face it I'm the losing kind But I believe deep down One day I'll stand High on a hilltop Way far away High on a hilltop Way far away Far away
10.
Lead Me Not 03:00
Lead me not into temptation You must please slam that door Lead me not into the valley Where I dare not go If you should see me cry And with a face so long Then you'll know I've been weak When I should have been strong Lead me not into temptation You must send me away Lead me not into the valley Where I dare not stray If you should see me out And all forlorn Then you'll know what I've been doing Has done me wrong Lead me not into temptation Lead me not into temptation Lead me not into the valley Lead me, lead me, lead me Lead me not into temptation Please slam that door For I can't resist I have no will You must stop your siren And then be still Lead me not into temptation Lead me not into temptation Into the valley, into temptation Lead me not into the endless night Into the valley Into temptation
11.
I woke up today Feeling something’s wrong Then I looked around And realized you had gone I did not sense your perfume Like I always do I must be getting over you I went to the closet I threw back the door All your gowns and dresses Were not there anymore That's when I knew that I Was going to pull through And I must be getting over you I must be getting over you 'Cause today I saw a bluebird at my window I must be getting over you 'Cause today I saw the sun breaking through I woke up today Something in the air Then I realized It was because You were not there Then I got down on my knees And gave thanks 'cause I knew I must be getting over you I must be getting over you
12.
That old alarm clock gives a yell Starting another day in hell Passing a world I can't face with you gone In the mirror I see Someone to choose to be me And I turn blue in the cold grey light of dawn The neon light and the jukebox Help to ease me through the night I lean hard on the bottle 'Til I no longer stand upright In the morning in my room I'm like a body in a tomb Those same three walls keep coming on Kind of strong Down the freeway then I drive More dead than alive And I turn blue in the cold grey light of dawn The neon light and the jukebox Help to ease me through the night I lean hard on the bottle 'Til I no longer stand upright In the morning in my room I feel like a body in a tomb Those same three walls keep coming on Kind of strong Down the freeway then I drive More dead than alive And I turn blue in the cold grey light of dawn I turn blue in the cold grey light of dawn
13.
You sit there a-running your fingers through my hair You think that’s all it takes to make me care You keep pouring that red wine down to the last drop And I’ll give you all night to stop The dress that you’re wearing is ever so tight It doesn’t keep much of you out of sight You keep feeding my hungry eyes while they window-shop And I’ll give you all night to stop There’s a weak link between my feet and my heart My heart said “Get out of here” But my feet just won’t stop The picture you’re painting is scorching the tabletop And I’ll give you all night to stop
14.
Soulful wind will be a-blowing Around my bed someday The clouds that have been brooding Will roll away Everybody's waiting For you to come in And blow, soulful wind Soulful wind, I've been waiting The longest time Strong in faith But heavy in heart I know it get a whole lot better After you begin To blow, soulful wind Soulful wind will cause the lion To lay down with the dove And the world to be filled With a powerful love So I'll keep waiting, waiting, waiting Anticipating, sure and certain It's gonna blow, soulful wind Soulful wind will cause the lion To lay down with the dove And the world to be filled With a powerful love So I'll keep waiting, waiting, waiting Anticipating, sure and certain It's gonna blow Blow, blow, blow Blow, soulful wind Soulful wind I’ll keep waiting Soulful wind Waiting and waiting Soulful wind I’ll keep waiting, anticipating Soulful wind
15.
From my humble point of view She don't love nobody Nothing borrowed, nothing blue She don't love nobody Behind her green eyes I detect She don't love nobody A heart no kiss could resurrect She don't love nobody All my life I've been told to hold on tight There's a girl to be my wife But I'm not interested in anything mama said She throws passion to the wind She don't love nobody She don't give out and she won't give in She don't love nobody And if I could I'd make her mine But she don't love nobody And I would never walk that line She don't love nobody And I would give her anything She don’t love nobody But I don’t think she’s suffering She don’t love nobody All her life She's been told to hold on tight There's a man who'll make her his wife But she's not interested in anything mama said I want the one who does not need She don't love nobody She's the one my heart receives She don't love nobody No, she don't love nobody She don't love nobody She don't love nobody She don't love nobody
16.
Oh, I can't take another heartache Though you say you're my friend, I'm at my wit's end You say your love is bonafide, but that don't coincide With the things that you do And when I ask you to be nice, you say You've gotta be cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you, baby You’ve gotta be cruel to be kind I do my best to understand dear But you still mystify and I want to know why I pick myself up off the ground To have you knock me back down again and again And when I ask you to explain, well, you say You've gotta be cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you, baby You’ve gotta be cruel to be kind Well, I do my best to understand dear But you still mystify and I want to know why I pick myself up off the ground To have you knock me back down again and again And when I ask you to explain, well, you say You've gotta be cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you, baby You’ve gotta be cruel to be kind Oh, in the right measure it's a very, very, very good sign And it means that I love you, baby Say baby Baby, you’ve gotta be cruel to be kind
17.
You'd better run You'd better hide You'd better lock your house And leave the kids inside Here come the twentieth century's latest scam He's a half a boy and half a man He ain't a fool but he's a tool Because his left don't know what his right hand's doing He'd keep a King Kong eating out of the palm of his hand He's a half a boy and half a man Best be fleet on your feet Or else the S.P.G.'s gonna clear in the streets They never made no provision in the original plan For half a boy and half a man When his fingers do the walking In the middle of the night When his people stalk in Baby, let me tell you Nothing gonna turn out right Well, you better be fleet on your feet Else the S.P.G.'s gonna clear in the streets They never made no provision in the original plan For half a boy and half a man When his fingers do the walking In the middle of the night When his people stalk in Well you better let me tell you That nothing gonna turn out right Well you'd better run Better hide You'd better lock your house And leave the kids inside Here come the twentieth century's latest scam He's a half a boy and half a man He's a half a boy and half a man He's a half a boy and half a man He's a half a boy and half a man

about

Nick Lowe's 1998 classic Dig My Mood finds the worldly balladeer in the middle of his fabled Brentford Trilogy of albums. The album features some of Lowe's greatest second-act triumphs like "You Inspire Me" and "Man That I've Become" as well as sophisticated covers of Ivory Joe Hunter's "Cold Grey Light of Dawn" and Henry McCullough's "Faithless Lover." Dig My Mood's 25th anniversary edition includes the rarity "I'll Give You All Night to Stop" and four live cuts from Nick's 1998 tour in Japan.

about

Nick Lowe London, UK

Nick Lowe has made his mark as a producer (Elvis Costello-Graham Parker-Pretenders-The Damned), songwriter of at least three songs you know by heart, short-lived career as a pop star, and a lengthy term as a musicians’ musician. But in his current ‘second act’ as a silver-haired, tender-hearted but sharp-tongued singer-songwriter, he has no equal. ... more
